The U.S. Department of State has announced that the 2021 Diversity Visa (DV) Program is accepting applications from October 2, 2019 through Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at noon (EST). All applications must be submitted electronically during the registration period using the form available at https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/.
For the 2021 Diversity Immigrant Program, 55,000 visas will be available to nationals from countries which are less represented in the immigrant mix. Applicants are selected through a randomized computer lottery.
Natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Please note that there is no fee to enter the DV lottery. Payment is only made once the person is selected for the visa lottery and proceeds to the next steps in the process. Entry status can only be checked on the official DV website, https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/.
Individuals will not be notified via mail or email. Applicants must exercise caution and only to use the official online entry form. There are many fraudulent and look-alike websites put up by unscrupulous operators posing as government agencies. Using a third-party to submit the application does not increase your chances of being selected. For more information on visa lottery scams click here.
