On NPR today (July 31) there was an excellent report about the vulnerability of immigrants, especially undocumented immigrants, to scams, rip-offs and fraud committed by unscrupulous persons offering green cards and work authorization under the “new immigration law.” It is worth noting that no new immigration law has been enacted, and the public should be wary of “consultants”, “notarios” or “immigration advisors” offering immigration benefits under any new law. Listen to the entire report here.
At the Law Office of Matthew I. Hirsch, we want to remind clients to stay away from “notarios”, consultants, immigration advisors and lawyers who do not specialize in immigration law. Immigration law is complex and the consequences of mistakes can be very serious. In addition, the internet is full of outdated, deceptive and erroneous information. Google is great; but it is no substitute for qualified legal assistance.
We encourage clients to seek assistance on immigration law issues only from qualified and experienced immigration lawyers. Please contact us: we welcome the opportunity to talk to you about your immigration-related issues, questions and concerns.
