A recent report from the Brookings Institution on the economic impact of international students found that, from 2008 to 2012, foreign students contributed around $21.8 billion in tuition and $12.8 billion in other spending to communities in the U.S. International students make up 3.8% of all college and university students, but represent a much larger percentage of students in STEM fields (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics). After graduation, many of these international students pursue employment in high-demand fields in the U.S., where their skills and education help U.S. companies to expand and be competitive. America needs immigration laws which helps qualified international students remain in the U.S.; not laws that drive them to competitor countries. To read the Brookings Report, click here.
