The Law Office of Matthew I. Hirsch is pleased to announce that its principal, Matthew I. Hirsch, will be part of an upcoming roundtable panel presented by the Business Immigration Section of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) entitled “Wow, That Was Expensive: LCA and H-1B Traps That Can Cost Clients.” The web seminar will be presented on June 6 and is open to AILA members in the U.S. and abroad. A recording of the event will be made available after the event date.
The program will focus on certain provisions of the H-1B and LCA regulations which have “strict liability”, meaning that violations can result in significant fines and penalties regardless of intent. Panel members will discuss some of the nuances of the specified rules and regulations and will offer guidance on how best to avoid violations and the ensuing costs. Specific topics will include whether it is ever allowable for beneficiaries to pay fees and costs for H-1B filing and/or Labor Certifications, issues around the termination/separation of H-1B workers and “clawback” or reimbursement agreements relating to immigration fees and costs. Matt looks forward to joining noted immigration experts Michael Nowlan and Christopher Barnett, to present this program.
